This intermediate medical and mental health care facility contains inmate housing, diagnostic and treatment facilities, warehousing and support buildings, a visitor entry building, central kitchen, and staff training facility within the confines of an electrified perimeter security fence. The site’s linear configuration features two protracted rows of buildings anchoring both sides of a broad pedestrian corridor.

SKA designed a comprehensive graphics program for the site, building exterior, and major areas/rooms inside the buildings that encompass code, identification, regulatory and wayfinding signs. The design incorporates symbols, special shapes and bright colors that simplify navigation for this special needs community. Jumbo graphics plaster building facades for emphasis. Oversized pylon signs contain grid locator, meeting point and directional information, as well as you-are-here orientation maps. Design criteria and performance specifications were prepared for all sign types, and provided to the design-build contractor for implementation.
