Santa Clara VTA Rail

Santa Clara, California

Role: Prime Consultant Size: 62 stations Completed: 2006 This northern California light rail system services San Jose and its surrounding suburbs of the Silicon Valley. It encompasses 42.2 miles of track through four primary corridors and currently has 62 light rail stations in operation. The stops provide connectivity to Caltrain, ACE and BART systems, where passengers can ride to the greater San Francisco Bay area. The Authority engaged SKA to develop a comprehensive identification and directional sign program. SKA incorporated easy-to-identify line colors and symbols into directional elements, and devised a simple system that can easily be fabricated and installed onto to existing infrastructure. These solutions were captured in Graphic Standards Manual, and provide criteria for all station signage applications.
