Santa Monica Airport Park

Santa Monica, California

Role: Sub-consultant to AHBE landscape architects
Size: 8.3 acres
Completed: 2006

Airport Park opened on non-aviation lands at the southeast corner of the Santa Monica Airport. The new park features a synthetic turf soccer field, picnic areas, playgrounds, open green space and an off-leash dog area. SKA assisted the landscape architect with the project by developing signage for the site, parking areas and public buildings. The program includes identification, restrictive and informational signs, which are constructed of brushed aluminum panels shaped like an airplane wing mounted on a curved red base.
