In Development

Griffith Park is the largest municipal park in the United States, offering 4,210 acres of natural terrain and landscaped parkland. It is home to the world-class Observatory, as well as the Autry National Center, Greek Theatre, Roosevelt Golf Course, Travel Town, equestrian center, and over 50 miles of equestrian and hiking trails.

A large portion of the land remains unchanged from the days Native Americans occupied its lower slopes, and these rugged hills are frequented by a variety of outdoor enthusiasts. To ensure their safety, the Los Angeles Department of Parks initiated a trail improvement program consisting of landscape enhancements and a new sign program. As the signage designer, SKA developed a prototype wayfinding system complete with trail name signs, mile markers, directional signing and orientation maps. Several concept were proposed; many of which incorporate pre-cast concrete bollards, durable porcelain enamel panels, natural wood elements, and fossil graphics.
