The number one priority for the Los Angeles Police Department’s scandal-ridden Rampart division was to create a sense of transparency and openness via the architecture of their new station, so the design team sculpted a slender profile with copious open space and resplendent light. Housed within are holding cells, interview rooms, surveillance monitoring stations and a communications tower. There is also community meeting space, garden areas, and ample parking.

SKA developed a simple illuminated identification pylon placed at the edge of the lawn as a welcoming beacon to the community. Other sign elements are integrated with the architecture and overall design intent.
