Michael Sanchez

Founding Principal

Michael Sanchez founded the firm in 1965, and developed the firm’s business services of interior planning & design, graphic communication, and institutional product design. Over time, the firm came to emphasize the environmental graphics design services, as that field developed into a fully recognized discipline. In 1985, the firm became known as Sanchez/Kamps Associates Design after Marjorie Kamps became a firm partner.

In 2001, Michael took an advisory role to the firm as part of a leadership transition. He then retired in 2007, although he continues to counsel the firm as a member of the Board on matters of business development, client relations, and strategic planning.

Michael has been an active member within the design community for nearly 50 years. He has served as a Board Member for the Society of Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD), and is a past President and lifetime member of the USC Architectural Guild. Additionally, he taught environmental design courses at Art Center College of Design for more than 25 years.

Michael has traveled extensively as a guest lecturer for organizations such as the American Association of Airport Executives, National Parking Association, National Research Council Transportation Research Board, and the European Parking Congress in Rome.
