Pasadena, California

For the over 15 years, SKA has provided wayfinding expertise, completing the following key projects:

Campus Signage Standards
SKA developed Campus Signage Standards to address long-range planning, governing regulations and campus branding standards. The Standards Booklet defines criteria for aesthetics, usage, placement, fabrication and installation, and provides a framework from which all subsequent sign systems must be developed. The approved solution uses bright shades of purple and gold, and feature a graphic element abstracted from the logo.

David Allan Hubbard Library
This project involved both an addition and remodel of the existing McAlister Library for which SKA designed the original sign program. The updated footprint lends more than 48,250 sq. ft. in five levels. SKA programmed locations and messages of exterior identification, interior wayfinding, area identification and code-required signs in alliance with the Campus Signage Standards. The project was heralded as the first building to be successfully permitted under the City of Pasadena’s green municipal building code requirements.

Student Housing Complex
Located within a short walk of the main campus, this 132,544 sq. ft. student housing complex adds 179 residential units to inventory. SKA provided unit identification, exterior signage, you-are-here information kiosks, and code-required signs for the four buildings.

Student Center
The new four-level student center enabled consolidation of multiple buildings into one, becoming the central home for the Horner Learner Center, Health Services and administrative functions. SKA’s effort addressed exterior building identification, building directories, room and department identification, code-required signs, and orientation plans.
