Atherton Homes is an established retirement community in an urban setting. The challenge for SKA Design was to create a sense of place and visually connect a disparate collection of existing houses and apartment buildings, all the while following strict zoning requirements for signage. Small monument signs were located along residential streets to mark the neighborhood. Simple post and panel signs were located throughout the facility campus to provide vehicular and pedestrian directional information. Decorative ironwork was incorporated into the sign design to accent the historical heritage of the community.
